New Item system and update to battle rewards
Hey there! This update came a little earlier than expected but we really wanted to get something out there to override a game breaking bug we spotted during playtests. As a result of the "rushed" update, some MAJOR features we were trying out are still undercooked but hey... it's a great opportunity to get early feedback! Let's discuss what's new!
Evo-card Reward Rework
Say that 10 times fast!
Jokes aside, this part of the game was always a bit boring. We needed something that worked better as a celebration for defeating a monsters, so we made these changes:
- Added parameters so rewards are variable based on performance.
- Generally, you get more chips now but we rebalanced the Reroll feature to compensate.
- Rewoked the amount of Evo-cards given, now it's 3 (regardless of how much you mill)
- Reroll now doesn't burn the Evo-cards, it sends them in the pile to be shuffled and resets the page
- The Skip bookmark is now End. The amount of chips given for each skipped Evo-card is increased.
Combo Patches Rework
Okay here's the part that's a little undercooked for now, but we REALLY want to know your thoughts.
Do you remember the Patches? The consumable items that would bind to combo slots and let you change your cards on the go? We are reworking them HEAVILY. We did not like how convoluted they were to use, you had to plan ahead wayyyyy to much to make them work. Did it make you feel like a genius when you pulled it off? Maybe, but if a feature sucks to use 80% of the time, it probably needs more work.
The new Consumable items have the same effect as the old patches, but they are now indipendent from combo slots. This makes them way more flexible and easy to use. Just play the card wherever, then play the item on top of the card to change it.
These items have 3 different tiers, with each tier having a higher number of uses before being consumed (and a higher price). We still haven't had the time to make them look pretty, right now they are just generic grey boxes. Let us know what you think these items should appear like! Most importantly, let us know if you are happy with this major gameplay shakeup!
